The Memorial of James Chalmers

James Chalmers (1735-1806), author of Plain Truth - a response to Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, relates his military service, including time at Pensacola, and his losses. Chalmers claimed a loss for 15 people he had enslaved.

Some themes his Loyalist Claim Commission memorial suggest include military service, persecution, and polemics.
