Maryland Loyalism Project

The Memorial of Hugh Kelly

Hugh Kelly, a native of Ireland who arrived in Maryland in 1774, actively served the British forces by circulating petitions, gathering soldiers, and spying over the course of the war. He left New York City in 1783.

Some themes his Loyalist Claim Commission memorial suggest include military service and confiscation.
