woud have behaved in the same manner to any other Loyalists
He was a Man of great humanity.
            Has been upon Mr Alexanders Property on the head of Elk
it was always accounted very valuable property both on acct
of its Situation and some very valuable Meadow. there were on
it- It was esteemed a very true Estate. Never heard of any Incumbce
on it.
            He was in the first practice in the County of Baltimore
but cannot say what he made by it.

Govt Wm Franklin  Sworn
            Says his first knowledge of Mr Alexander ^was at New Yk
when Govr Franklin came in thither from his Confinemt in
Connecticut  He was introduced to him as a Friend to Govt &
always appeared so to him. Says he himself from what he
had heard of him recommended him to Sir Henry Clinton to
be one of the board of Directors of the associated Loyalists.
            Being questioned whether Mr Alexander was of Material
Service to Govt  Says he has reason to believe Mr Alexander
had an Opening of obtaining Intelligence which he communicd
to head Quarters and believes he was in Confidence at head
Quarters.

            Says Mr Alexander’s great Business was
as an Attorney rather than a Barrister.
