June 21st. 1785
Evidence on the foregoing memol of
Susannah Marshall.
 
The Claimant Sworn.
 
She is a native of Wales, went first to america
with her Husband William Marshall and arrived
in Maryland in March 1774 Her Husband was an
Irishman says they carried out Goods and monies
--to the amount of £500 Sterling they took a
House in Baltimore and Kept it as a boarding
House, Her husband was called upon in May 1775
To take up Arms with the Americans which he
refused, he quitted America in June following and died
at Dominique, He left the Claimant behind him,
The Americans billeted Soldiers upon her but on Lord
Dunmore’s Proclamation she refused  to do so any
longer, whereby she says she was liable to be tarred
and feathered, she says she was obliged to quit Baltimore
and the Rebels then seized many of her goodes to the
Amount of 50 and stopped the Payment of her debts.
