To the Commissioners appointed by Act of
Parliament for enquiring into the Losses & Services of
the American Loyalists
The Memorial of Richard Button
formerly of the Province of Mary Land in North
America Mercht afterwards of New York & late
of the City of London, but now on his Passage
to North America (by Thomas Burton of Egham
in the County of Surry his Nephew and Attorney).
Humbly Sheweth
That the Memorialist Richard Button had the
Honor to present a Petition to The Right Honble The Lords
Commissrs of his Majestys Treasury sometime in Jany
last stating the Memorialists Loyalty, and the losses
he sustained in Consequence thereof and praying a
Reparation for his Losses, and a Temporary Allowance
in the mean time a Copy of which Petition (with the
Certificate of Sir Robert Eden Bart Gov. of Maryland)
is hereunto annexed.
That the said Petition - was referred by their
Lordships to John Wilmot and Daniel Parker Coke Esqrs
who were pleased to report in favor of the Memorialist
for an Allowance of Sixty pounds a year—
              That the Memorialist afterwards Petitioned the
said Lords of the Treasury for Permission to go to Maryland
in order to bring away his Wife from thence, and to have his
