to the war—During his Continuance in Maryland Mr Lawson
still held his Offices but was esteemed a firm Friend to Gt Britain,
Believes that he lost those Offices on acct of his Loyalty.—
Believes the Emolumts of his Offices have been full as much
as Mr Lawson has stated—

Robert Christie Esqr Sworn.
Knew Mr Lawson in 1775 and says he was always a warm
Friend to the British Governmt—He continued in Maryland during
the War—None of his Property has been confiscated—Has heard of his
having made a Purchase during the War in Maryland—
Being asked if he does not consider Mr Lawson as a Subject
of Maryland--  says he shou’d think so.
From the Books of his Office Mr Christie says he finds
that Mr Lawsons Fees were about 300,000 lb of tobacco yearly
out of which he was to pay the Expe of Office and a 10th to the. Secretary,
Supposes the net amount might be 6 or £700 per. ann. Stg

Robert Smith Esqr Sworn.
Knew Mr Lawson before the Troubles and believes him to
have been a Loyalist—Believes also that he held the same
Principles through the War altho he resided in Maryland durg
that time—Knows his Property was not Confiscated—Knows he
had Property in Queen Anns County but is ignorant of the time
of Purchase—
Thinks he is a Subject of ^the State of Maryland for he pays Taxes
to it—but he lost his Offices in Consequence of his Loyalty.

Robt‑ Alexander Esqr – Sworn
Believes Mr Lawsons Conduct to have been that of a Friend
to Great Britain—altho’ he resided throughout the War in Maryland
his Property has not been Confiscated.
Believes his Office to have been worth 900 or £1000 Cury
per Annum Communibus Annis—
