Congress which he refused and he dont know that he
ever took any part with the Americans, says he was
the Author of a Pamphlet entitled Considerations
on the propriety of taxing America, with a view to
a Revenue &c. about the time of the Stamp Act. The
doctrine contained in which tended - to produce
the Consequences which have since happened, says
M.r Dulany Sen.r in 1774 wrote a Circular ^Letter to many
of the Heads of the Opposition in the Country,
containing arguments to oppose the Measure
then carrying on, he altogether opposed taxation,
believes nevertheless he was well inclined
towards this Country in the late Dispute.
Says he does not believe that the Conveyance
from M.r Dulany to his Son in 1772 was made
in Contemplation of the Troubles, dont believe
that in 1772 M.r Dulany Sen.r could have any Idea
the Storm was so near or would be attended
with the Consequences it has been.
Has understood M.r Dulany’s motives for making
the Settlement was this, he had two Sons the eldest
was about marrying Miss Castance and he settled
part of his property on him and on the same
occasion made the Conveyance to the Claimant,
has heard of the latter in the Country and believes
it a bona fide Transaction, believes Claimant
is considered as uniformly loyal in that Country
and has in Consequence lost his Property.
Never heard that the Father took any Oath or gave
