John Swan Sworn
Knew Claimant in 1772 or 3 in America. he
was then lately returned to America from his
Education here, understood he was dissaffected
to the Cause of America, refused to muster and
take the Oaths and was in consequence obliged
to leave the Country. says Claimant had a large
Estate which his Father conveyed to him soon
after he arrived in America, the Father conveyed
to Claimant and his other Son all his Estates
except his House and Lot at Annapolis and a
small Plantation, this he knew only from general
Report, dont know his Motives for making this
Conveyance. Witness left America in June last
Believes Claimant has lost the whole of his Property
by Confiscation. Witness lived in Frederick County
cant speak to the value of any of the Property in
that Country.
Dont know the value of the Property at Annapolis
Knows he had Property there.
Knows nothing of the value of any part of his Property
Speaks to the Characters and Hands Writing to the
cert.s of Francis Fairbrother
