Has Known Claimant from 1756 and knew him
when he returned to America after his Education,
believes that he and all his Family took part with
this Country during the Troubles. Witness lived at
Baltimore.
Says Claimant had very considerable Property given
him by his Father, Grandfather and Grandmother.
Witness has seen the Conveyance from his Father
to him. Witness was retained as Counsell for the
Baltimore Company and in order to bring an
Ejectment it was produced by the Agents to him.
Heard the Father declare his Reasons for resigning
his Property to his Sons, he said his Public Business
prevented his attention to his private affairs and
he wished to put confidence in and give Employ
to his Children, the Emoluments of his Office
were sufficient for his Support and he therefore
conveyed all his landed property to his Sons except
a small part for his own Residence.
