He had some of these before he quitted America
Viz.t 2 Men and 3 Women, the rest he had left him
by his Grandmother, values them at £20 a head.
Says he is residuary Legatee to his Grandmother
from the Information of M.r Brooks who did her
Business, he supposes that the Residium would
amount to £17000, it consists of Bonds at Interest
He reads a Letter from his Father dated 8 Dec.r 1783 wherein
he mentions that he hopes this will not be confiscated
but wishes him to make a Conditional Claim for the
Value thereof.
Says none of his landed property was mortgaged by
him not to his Knowledge by his Father. He owes no
debts in America.
Produces a Cert. of Claim.t Brooke Clerk to the Iron Works
stating that there has been carried to the Credit of the
Account of the State of Maryland pursuant to Act of
Assembly 12.14.1.3 of Bar and 68 Tons of Pig Irons.
Says Bar Iron sold for 1515s Sterling a Ton and Viz.
Iron at 5 Sterling a Ton.

Has Known Claimant many Years as far as
Witness - Knew of him he acted as a Loyalist, he
was then a Young Man lately returned from his
Education here, was not of much Influence tho
of considerable property, he protested against the non-
payment of British debts in May 1774 immediately
after the Arrival of General Gage believes there was
an Application to Claimants Father to go into the
