“Who desirous of pursuing every method of recovering
“their rights shall not have brought their affairs
“to a conclusion previous to the Commissioners
“final report which I am informed is likely to
“take place the next Summer may be secured against
“losing the benefit of the Act of Parliament; I shd
“be obliged to you for precise authentic and
“Official information on this point—If there
“be no provisions for Cases of this sort and the
“Commissioners are likely to close the Business
“so soon it will needless be for me to persist
“in Mrs D-ys Claim here, unless it can be
“brought to a speedy issue—For as I have repeatedly
“said, though we wish to do everything for the
“recovery of her rights here, in preference to claim:
=ing Compensation in England it will not do
“to risque the total Loss of all upon our success
“in these attempts—It has been proposed by Mr
“Cooke to Mr Paca to refer the matter to the
“decision of the Judges—If this proposal should
“be agreed to, it will not only bring the point
“to a more speedy issue, but I shall think our
“chance for impartial justice upon as good
“a footing as it can be—they being men of
“great respectability both for their legal knowledge
“and integrity—And I own I should have some
“apprehensions from a Jury of prejudiced men.
“That you have not received the papers in order.
