Unless upon proper occasions of Exertion,
Says he thinks it possible that he might have made
his way to one of the British Garrisons and that
he might perhaps have been of use, being asked
whether he believes Claimant adhered throughout
the War uniformly to the British Cause.
Says from every thing he has ever heard he believes
he has uniformly adhered to the British Cause
but admits he thinks him not to have been a
vigorous active Loyalist.
Except the Protest dont know of any particular
Act of Loyalty.
Whether he was ever considered by his Stay to have
been of use to the Loyalists.
Says he thinks he was of use to the Loyalists who
came over here.
Thinks M.r Chase in some Publication mentioned
the name of the Claimant in the way of a Threat
to Keep him quiet.
That Chase at that time was in a situation to
have punished him or sent him out of the
Province.
As to the Records of the Privy Counsell says it
was not clear they were public property and of
public Importance.
Says they were of consequence to the Old Gov.t
but does not think them so to the new.
Says it was once a Question of whether the Clerk
to the Councill was to be paid by the Public or his
Employers.
The Rev.d John Montgomery - Sworn            Feb.y 8.th 1784
desires to give further Evidence on this Case which he
says he forgot to mention when before examined
