“Lawson, he was often informed by that Gentleman
“of the State of the Companys Affairs. Mr Lawson
“was once a fourth proprietor, but afterwards sold
“his share to Mr Russell Buchanan & Ewers—
“the property of this Company consisted of a
“Furnace under the Management of a certain
“John Skinner and a Forge under a certain
“Corbin Lee—The Agents or Attornies of the Co
“were Messrs Dick and Graham Merchants of
“Maryland, this two Gentlemen met once in
“every year, at the different Works when the
“Books and Accounts being made up they
“settled with Skinner and Lee, paid any out:
“standing Debts and gave Orders for the Ship:
“ment to England or Sale of the Iron—
“Mr Lee having purchased an Estate in the
“Neighbourhood of the Forge, the Improvemt
“of the same engaged more of his time and
“attention than comported with his Duty to
“the Company added to which, he drew Bills
“of Exchange to a large amount on the
“proprietors in London which they protested
“as he had no Authority to draw, all Bills
“being drawn by Messrs Dick & Graham
“who advanced the necessary Sums to Skinner
“and Lee—this Conduct of Mr Lee determd
“Messrs Dick and Graham to supercede him
“In the Management of the Forge, whither
“they acted in this instance by special orders
“from the Company or under the general
“authority derived from their powers of Attorney
