“Robt Alexander was present at a meeting between
“Mr Graham on behalf of the Company & Mr Lee
“when it was agreed that Mr Lee should deliver
“up the Iron Forge and Mr Graham to take up
“the protested Bills of Exchange, on Mr Lee his
“giving Security to repay such part of the Monies
“advanced on the Bills of Exchange as should
“appear in final Settlement, not to have been
“expended in the Service of the Company—And
“Mr Lee having proposed Mr Archibald Buchanan
“a partner in the House of Buchanan and
“Cowen as Security Mr Graham agreed thereto
“when the Bonds were drawn Mr Buchanan
“refused to execute them—Mr Graham then
“agreed to take Security on such parts of Mr
“Lees real Estate as were free from Incumbces
“this was given and Robert Alexander beds
“he drew the Deeds and Agreements Mr
“Skinner was then appointed and took Charge
“of the Forge sometime afterwards Robt Alexander
“cannot say how long Mr Lee died—after his
“death Claims were made on the Companys
“Agents Messrs Dick and Graham for Articles
“stated to have been sold to Mr Lee for the use of
“the Iron Works and Robt Alexander thinks tho
“not certain that one or two Suits were commenced
“previous to his leaving the Bar in 1776 this much
“he well remembers, that if any Suits were
“brought, none were tryed before that time—
“And Robt Alexander advised Messrs Dick and
“Graham agt paying the Claim, & he believes the
“like advice was given by Mr Johnson a Gentleman
