Produces the affidt of Col. Chalmers which is read vizt
            “Personally appeared before me one of his
,, Majesty’s Justices of the peace for the City of London
“James Chalmers Lieut. Col. Commandt of the
,, late Regimt of Maryland Loyalists, and being duly
,, Sworn deposeth, that before the War he lived in
,, Chester parish in Kent County Maryland of which
,, the Revd Mr Paterson was Rector: That he
,, was acquainted with Mr Paterson, and knew him
,, to be perfectly Loyal; that he was twice imprisoned
,, on account of his Loyalty, that he was possessed
,, of a good share of Property unincumbered by Debts.
“ That he also bels sincerely from the friendly
,, intercourse which he saw between him & his
,, Brother Saml Paterson, that nothing but the part
,, which he took prevented him from being at present
,, in possession of his Brothers Estate.
