            Says he was in very fine Business he must have gained 5
or £600 Stg by it. Perhaps nearer 5 than £600 Stg per annum
            Says that Mr Alexanders Estate at the head of Elk was not
particularly known to him but he is sure from the advantages
of its Situation and all Circumstances put together that it was
Worth 4 Guineas an Acre round.

Robt Christie Esqr Sworn
            Says he has known Mr Alexander since the year 1764
            Is questioned as to Mr Alexanders Conduct particularly
with respect to Mr James Christie. Says all he recollects
respecting this matter is that he was active in the Committee
to preserve Mr Christies Person
            Says that when Mr Alexander went to Congress he being
upon very intimate terms with him altho’ they differed in Politics,
still retained his Friendship and therefore requested him if there
was any thing should pass which he shod be under no obligatn
to Conceal and the Communicans of which might be useful to
Mr Christie as a Mercht and that he woud inform him thereof,
this brought on a Correspondence and he well remembers that from
this Tenor of Mr Alexanders Letters he perceived he was sick of the
Business and in effect he quitted Congress prior to the Decln
of Independance. Says in Previous Conversatn with him he
had said that he never meant any Thing of Independance &
that the measures pursued tending towards was his reason for
quitting
            After his return home altho he was continued a Delegate
