                                                        June 30th 1787
             Evidence on the foregoing Memorial of
                                         Robert Smith—
The Claimant Sworn
Memorial read—He confirms the Truth thereof
Certificate from Sir Robt Eden to Loyalty
A Native of England went to America in 1769 as private
Secretary to Sir Robt Eden, In 1776 when Sir Robt Eden came home he
continued in the Country on Consequence of the Commission mentioned
in his Meml—Says he exerted himself on all occasions [illeg] ^for the Support
of the British Govt and frequently at great personal risque – Never
in any degree conformed to the Measures of the Rebels—He quitted
Maryland in April 1780—went to New York and from thence to
England in the same year
Received £100 per Annum from the Treasury and has
no other Receipt from Government—
Losses.
As to 5878 Acres of Land.
Produces the following Certificates Vizt
4th May 1774    Certificate from John Hanson Deputy Surveyor of Ann Arrundl
             County that by virtue of a special Warrant granted out of the Lord
             Proprietarys Land Office dated 26th March 1774 he surveyed & laid out
             for Robt Smith a Tract of Land containing 3000 Acres
16th April 1774  Do from Do that by virtue of a Warrant dated 26th March 1774 he
             surveyed and laid out for sd Robt Smith^ a Tract of Land containing
             1072 Acres—
2d May 1774     Do from Do that by Virtue of a Warrant dated 12th March 1774 he
