Never heard the House at Annapolis was Mr Smiths—That
the Land might be worth about £150 or £200 Currency
He was Secretary to the Govr Surveyor of the Western Shore and
Judge of the Admiralty, Does not know the Emolument.

Mr James Brooks—Sworn
Says Mr Smith always exerted himself to the utmost of his
power for the British Government.
Heard the Claimant in Maryland say he had enrolled a
number of Men but does not know it of his own knowledge.—
He was private Secretary to the Govr does not know the Amot
of his Salary—
He was also Judge of the Admiralty – It depended upon
Seizures and accident—There was very little Business done
Cant form any idea of its value—
He was Surveyor Genl of the. Western Shore—There was
no Salary—never heard it estimated--  It depended on Fees and
it was not an office increasing in value—Shoud not suppose it
woud be worth above £150 Sterling per annum—
Has heard Mr Smith in Maryland speak of the small
House at Annapolis as being his and that he intended building an
Office there—The House was of little value—but the Land might
be worth about £120 Sterling—
Produces the following Affidavit vizt
Office of American Claims
to wit                 Jonathan Boucher heretofore Rector of Queen
             Anne’s Parish in the County of Prince George Maryland and now
             Vicar of Epsom in Surrey Maketh Oath & Saith
