Being questioned whether he apprehends
Mr Cooke wd have prosecuted his Claims
had he been restored previous to January 1787
the date of his Memorial transmitted by
Mr Anstey.
Says he apprehends he wod for the intermediate
Loss—

Robert Alexander Esqr Sworn
Says so far as he knew Mr Cooke he
believes he believes he was a sincere well
wisher to this Country. He informed Mr
Alexander he did not mean to take the Test
he was debarred the Exercise of his Profession
at an early period of the Troubles—
Says he only practiced in the genl
Court and Court of Chancery with Mr Cooke
He had a considerable Share of Business prevs
to the Troubles but is unable to say what might
be his profits.
Supposes but does not know that Mr
Cooke was obliged to pay the Treble Tax as a
Nonjuror.
Apprehends his Reason for conting
was that having inherited a good property
from his Father and having a Wife and a family
of young Children he staid to protect his
property and maintain his Family—
