                William Eddis

Memorial read.
            Memorial to Lord Geo: Germaine read
            The Claimant confirms the truth of both of them.
            Certificate to Loyalty and good behaviour from Sir Robt Eden
            Says he left England in June 1769 and arrived in
Maryland in the September following     In 1774 and 1775 he was
settled at Annapolis where he enjoyed the offices mentd in his
Schedule.
            On the first breaking out of the Rebellion he used all the
Influence he possessed in Support of the British Govt from
his allegiance to which he never swerved, nor did he ever conform
to the measures of the Rebels, on the contrary on the 26th June
1776 he publickly addressed the Convention avowing his Determn
to adhere to his allegiance.
            In June 1777 he was discharged from his Place as Comr
of the loan Office and quitted the Province by the first Opportunity
afterwards. Says his & his Colleague, Mr Clapham’s reason
for continuing to act as Commr of the Loan office at the Declarn
of Independance was that having securities bound for them to a
