Has been lately appointed Agent for Turks Island with
the Salary of £100 Sterlg. per Annum to be paid out of the
4 ½ per Cent Duty, 5th March 1784 by the King’s Sign
Manual.
Appointed Waiter and Searcher on the same Island, no
Salary only Emoluments.
Produces Certificate from Sir Robert Eden dated 12th Nov.
1782 to the facts of his being appointed Distributor of
Stamps, Comptroller of the Customs and his quitting in
consequence of the Disturbances.

Mr. Shoemaker on his Affirmation  - examined. July 31st 1784.
He remembers the claimant.  His character as a steady
uniform Loyalist stands fair.  He was one of those who
were nominated to distribute Stamps and was on that account
much insulted, he could not rest for the sole of his
Foot.
He held some Office in the Customs - he does not know
what the Office was.
Knew an Uncle of the Claimant in Philadelphia one Mr
Maccubbin who was in Credit in Philadelphia - never knew
that his Uncle left him a Distillery - has a faint recollection
of his being an Executor - but can’t speak to particulars.
