The Memorial of George and David Steuart
George (1700-1784), a member of the Council and Judge of the Land Office in Maryland, and his son David Steuart (1751-1814), argue for the loss of income from that lucrative appointed position. George left for England in 1775, David for Spain in 1779 en route to England.
Some themes their Loyalist Claim Commission memorial suggest include office-holding, persecution, and polemics.
