The Memorial of William Eddis

William Eddis (1738-1825), surveyor and searcher of customs for Maryland, as well as several other offices, fled to New York in 1777 and England in 1778 leaving his wife and family behind. He seeks compensation for his lost income. Eddis was the author of the 1792 Letters from America about his experience in Maryland between 1769 and 1777. Read in Google Books.

Some themes his Loyalist Claim Commission memorial suggest include family experience and office-holding.
